well, this is my first posting ... so let me introduce myself first:

- fan of “Minimalelektronik” ... as the music this forum is dealing about is labeled in Germany ... at least since the early 90ies

- I personally don’t like the term “collector” ... but ... being lacking of a better title ... actually I am some sort of a “minimal synth collector”

- having been a very passive member of this forum (“read-only”) this is now my coming-out wink

But back to the real world ... and BTT:

I’ve just ripped an LP I bought some months ago ... and It’s so fantastic ! it has to be mentioned here ...

I never heard a track from this LP before, never saw it going for hundreds of dollars on eBay ...

I’m talking about the furious LP from an obscure band called “Celibates”, titled “A shameless fashion” ... to my ears it’s even better than “Still Human”

Yes yes!! Excellent band, their LP is fantastic, a bit cheesy at some moments thought but still great!

As for “Mecano”, 1.I’m pretty sure it’s not minimal/ or electronic,
2. and not at all underatted, at least not were I’m from..

What about “Le Travo” and “Ziyo”? Who are diz?? smile

It is normal to polish stuff to still be underrated like ziyo, madame, ayaRL, variété, the siekiera 7” and many other things but people starts to archive and collect records again there and the prices are growing like hell.
Same was in France some years ago while it was able to find Martin Dupont, clair obscure’s or leitmotiv (and many others) records for peanuts.
But yeah they have chances to get “rare” pretty soon as the pressings were limited to 1000 copies, sometimes 10 000. Not enough for a big country like Poland.

Regarding Le Travo

They were from Belgium and had, as far as I know, two releases: a split EP with Fred A. and an LP called Erring & Errant. But I wouldn’t lable them minimal but Cold Wave. They used a lot of guitars

Ziyo I don’t know myself

Le Travo is excellent synth wave, yes, you can even call if cold wave with a high synth percentage. smile  The guitars are not disturbing the songs, something Mecano is doing in quite a lot of songs…

Mekanik Kommando

“It would be quiet in the woods if only a few birds sing” is a brilliant LP. And the “Dancing Elephants” 12”.
Most of their catalogue is still pretty easy to come by, not too overpriced, but this band made so many nice songs, they should be introduced to a new audience. There was more to “Ultra” then the ubiquitous Minny Pops.

Coldwave

Hello,

yes, of course LE TRAVO were typical Coldwave, but there´s no need for a sub-forum on these bands I guess. They came from the same vein as
Winter Light, Weimar Gesang, Victrola, Opera Multi Steel and so forth.
Nevertheless both records don´t gain prices they´d deserve for musical quality and rareness. Within 10 yrs time I´ve only seen 3 copies of their “Erring & Errang” album, of which 1 I bought and the others went
for less than 50$. Within the same period I saw at least 20 copies of
the 3 Weimar Gesang eps and they always sell for much more…

Ziyo were from Poland. I only know their self-titled album. Also great stuff like Siekiera, but more eclectic and less post-punkish.

Cheers,
Alex
