Curious to see what people who post on this board think of a current “scene.”

Some of the French call it “Glue Wave.” A lot of synth influence, mixed with DiY Punk, lo-fi stuff and home recording. I’m pretty excited about this stuff.

Tell me what you think.

Here’s a few bands:

Volt http://myspace.com/voltklub
Digital Leather http://myspace.com/digitalleather
Spider http://myspace.com/spider999
Blank Dogs http://myspace.com/blankdogtime
The Pink Noise http://myspace.com/thepinknoise2
Factums http://myspace.com/factums
Leper Print http://myspace.com/leperprint
Cccandy http://myspace.com/cccandy3
Terror Visions http://myspace.com/terrorvisions
The Anals http://myspace.com/anals

Bunch more..but, you get the point.

And now for something completely different: music.

Quite a Motley Crew you presented us with here, I must say. I openly admit I had never heard of any of these.

The most minimal synthy guys in there seem to be CCCandy, Leper Print is more guitar-oriented indy music than anything else, so I guess nobody will be interested very much in them round here.

Now what can be said about it? It’s not a new music genre, it’s not the reinvention of the wheel, but it’s energetic, wild, some of the bands are gay or pretend to be, some are trying too hard, but in a nutshell you should be surely grateful for anybody who is not into making “Whitney Titney Carey me away, quick” kind of music.

My favorite is the first song I listened to, Volt’s Testbild. Reminded me a bit of Die Perlen, band which I will continue to promote although there’s neither skirt nor money in it for me.  :D

Thanks for making this post,
falck

I’m excited about this stuff too, but I can understand why many on this board wouldn’t be all too interested in it.  Some of it, like Volt and Factums, might fit into the tastes of people here more than others.  Leper Print is more punk than anything, sort of reminiscent of Primitive Calculators and the like, which was always a favorite style of mine but less in line with the theme of the forum.

These folks caught my attention as well:

I think falck said it well—even if you’re not into the genre, it’s nice to see people making music without worrying about the fact that 95% (or more) of people who hear it won’t like it.  I personally dig most of the bands you listed, though.

Thanks for the links!

I’ve got most of the Digital Leather discography and I like it quite a bit.  They’re putting a new spin on an old form.

I’ve got 1 12” EP by Volt which I also like.  I saw that they recently released a full length that I have yet to pick up.

I haven’t heard the other bands listed but if they are in the same vein as Volt and DL I will track them down.

Thanks for the tip.  Might I also add Zeigenbock Kopf (more of a noisy synthpunk bordering on power electronics) and The Soft Pink Truth.

Re: "Glue Wave" and Other stuff..

Sr Mike,

Thanks for sharing.
Only band I know at first look is Digital Leather. I kinda liked their earlier stuff (more electro-punkish). I’ll check out the other bands you put on there.

here’s a link to an ‘04 track by Digital Leather called Black Flowers. Great track and funny (black flowers from the future invading my past)  woeha !
