And don’t forget the minimal/ebm bands : it’s quite minimal, it’s quite dark and it’s absolutely danceable.

Typis Belgis for example.
or The Shining Path (their album is really a pearl !)

[quote author=“JoakTree”][quote author=“jotsif”]I really think Russisk Disko should be on that list! terribly good single imho

I like this single too…
is this an unusual sound for Norway like a russian theme?,
is it, Norge lyrics?  :?:

Yeah, the lyrics are in Norwegian. The A-side is painting a romantic picture of a night out in Russia, while the b-side comments on the political situation in El Salvador. They were kinda socialist folk rockers who made one synth project…

Why not some of the newer stuff around? Cob webs can seriously affect the condition of your turntable needle you know…

Sixteens—“Into The Gold Wave Of Future Non Ripp-Off!”
Adult.—“Gimme Trouble”

Oh, what’s that 4-track EP I have with Adult. on it? (off to discogs)—-

v/a - The Men You’ll Never See 12”. 4 tracks, including, in addition to Adult., a smasher of a track by I-f, Electronome and D.I.E. This EP is a bit like if you took the annoying factors out of electroclash, which of course is a splendid idea. Warmly recommended.

Electronome-Playmobile Invisible is a amazing track from that EP!

I thought is was something from the early 80’s when I first heard it.  It’s another perfect example of the type minimal synth/wave I’m looking for.  Thanks for reminding me of that one.  I should have listed it in my original post as an example.

Great topic!
The first track that comes to my mind is “Linear Movement - Another Night In June”. It’s kinda classic minimal-wave, mellow, melancholic uptempoish :p.
It’s a great chance you’d like it based on the tracks you mentioned.

Edit: and why not “Oppenheimer Analysis - The Devil’s Dancers” and “Night Moves - Transdance” while we’re at it.
The latter here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocXzdQh7whc

This thread really got me started. I really love so called “uptempo wave” and Circuit 7 -Video Boys that you mentioned is an all time top 10!

I’ve had a break from this genre but now im right back on it digging through some of the tracks i have here.

As for Sweden my top pick would be: “Nurnberg47 - Hundarna Brinner” Soundtrack from a Swedish 80’s movie. Check http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=B1wwHAVqbjo&feature=related

Autumn - the game. Melancholic uptempo. Same group as Linear Movement & Twilight Ritual. These guys are pure class and my heroes.

Greg Vandike - Final Scene Fast UK-wave at it’s best imo.

Anti Matter - Digital Dance. I haven’t found much info about this guy/guys? Melodic uptempo with distinct snares and the usual false singing smile

Fjose - Nobody Is Like You Agressive and melodic at the same time with surrealistic lyrics to say the least.

Tapa Paha Tapa - Syyton Finnish synth from 1983? Female singer with the false voice and melancholic synthlines.

The Electronic Circus - Direct Lines Beautiful melancholish track (yes i like them sad tracks :p) with female singing.

Moral Support - Strange Day For Dancing A bit more to the italo-cheesy style but with a hell of a flow)

Tuxedomoon - Incubus Fast, raw and beautiful.

Clan Of Xymox - A day http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yCxoZ8GzOTU

SS-say - care http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oD8dm2demu0

I’m sure there are tons more i’ve forgot about but this will have to do for now.

Edit: Btw, Russisk Disko mentioned earlier was fantastic. Never heard of it. Thanks for a great forum smile

I mentioned this in my dark-minimal dance lists already.
but the two songs from The Horsemen (norway,, i think.), I just really find plesently raw/dark and melancholy.
Sorta like x-mal (with male voice), or modern eon.

Mr. Sunrise by The Horsemen,

something in the voice and lyrics, that gets me everytime…
not to mention, the music is perfect and compliments the singer.

*you know in heaven, things are free*
*you know in heaven, just wait for Mr. Sunrise*
*you know in heaven, it takes you up so plesently*

If you like the Circuit 7 sound, then
the band,
V-sor X is a MUST…
” A strip of light but still too dark ”
thats the name of the CD. Material is from early 80’s
later complied onto CD.    smile

This is a ‘must’ dark danceable tune,

PIL ( Public Image Ltd. ) - The Order of Death

*this is what you want, this is what you get*
