Bjakk said:

What people? You’ve sold four copies.

How do you define the word people Bjakk?

Nah, that’s not going to help much. 3 and 4 are unimportant nitpicking and in 1, he has a valid point:

Poor Grammar is completely not nitpicking.  It makes any persons argument come across as weak, because it deems a person partially illiiterate which implies that they are unintelligent.

And everyone knows that if you are a German citizen that one of the most heinous parodies in history is for you to impersonate a cowboy.

Those two guys from All The Madmen - they were you, posting under a different name, weren’t they?

No.

As for 2: Well, since the records are selling, one per week, at a little above minimum bid, it seems that this business model is working. But there are many things that work without necessarily being efficient or ethical. He isn’t actually complementing you at all.

I would consider it a compliment when anyone implies that a persons business model is not only going to be successful, but will also have enough influence on others for them to mimic it in the future.

Nutcase!

This is the final word of someone that has lost their argument.

It comes across as childish, and unintelligent, and represents extreme feelings of inferiority.

Do you know what i would consider to be crazy?

A person that makes this statement about any minimal synth music.

“lack of any drum sounds at all is a serious drawback, the poor sound, bad singing, inept playing and clichéd songwriting are others”

This is the demonstration of a naive person in regards to minimal synth music to the utmost.

“Lack of any Drum Sounds at all is a serious drawback”  ?!

I totally couldn’t believe you said this.  I felt sorry for you.

It is minimal SYNTH!!!

There are NO DRUMS OR DRUM MACHINES REQUIRED!

The more minimal the better wink

Less is more is definitely true to me regarding all minimal synth.

“the poor sound”

Go buy a techno record, because you are on the wrong forum.

“bad singing”

Most of my vocals are deadpan talking.

If you want to hear singing go watch American Idol, or buy a Neil Diamond record.

“inept playing”

All the Aspect Ratio songs were recorded live in one take.  When you listen to these songs and know that they were done in one take I would far from consider any of the playing on any of them from being inept. There are mistakes in some songs, and I absolutely love those mistakes, and purposefully did not re-record the songs that they are in.

“clichéd songwriting”

These songs will be loved for a long time, and you can quote me on that.  You saying they are cliche is you again acting out of hatred brought on by your own inferiority, and naivety.

and Fulck said:

Well, many things have been said about the rhetorical skills of Young Stephen already, but in hindsight I must agree that I wasn’t at my best when I compared him to a horse, given that a horse is a creature that the gentle reader tends to associate attributes like grace and nobility with, so I must conclude that my comparison was most inappropriate bordering the akward. I would thus like to offer all MW readers as well as all those horses out there my most sincere apologies for this terrible blunder.

You should also apologize to all the children for your bad grammar, and all the people on this forum for your passive aggresive maliciousness.  It is not funny at all and does not impress anyone on this forum, and no one takes it seriously, and in essence it is a complete waste of your own time.

Saleswise I must say I am rather fascinated, as even a sales figure as low as 3 or 4 copies regarding that Asparagus Ration tape proves again that you can sell just anything out there.

Fulck, you have proven to everyone that you can not tell the difference musically between a $5 minimal synth record and an $800 minimal synth record last year when you compared a Mobiles 7” to the Seeing Red 7”.

So why do you think any person would listen to what you have to say regarding any minimal synth music?

I think quite the opposite is actually true, because since you posted this comment there are five more people watching the Aspect Ratio cassette this week.

Also the malicious parody name you have made regarding the band is unintelligent, and not even comical or demeaning.

Alright alright then, you two ARE real and no doubt about it :D

As it looks like it’s time to pull the curtain on this thread, I must say that this has been highly entertaining again, so let’s just quickly sum up the highlights of Young Stephen’s most recent appearance:

- we have been presented with the most hilarious minimal synth parody (and just to make sure I’m not talking ATM here)
- we have been presented with a most hilarious sales model even including an IQ test
- but personally I feel Young Stephen peaked when he accused Anna of using an artist with the cruel ulterior motive of donating money to an animal shelter 8)

One would almost feel tempted to predict a dream career in politics, if only the lad was a tiny bit more ambitious ....

I’m tempted to reply to Stephen’s last post, but I think I know what to expect; it’s like throwing a Mentos in a Pepsi bottle. In fact, just by saying so, I am throwing the Mentos into the Pepsi bottle.

In case anyone missed it the Aspect Ratio cassette went for more
than the All The Madmen LP last week.  Here are the completed auctions.

http://cgi.ebay.com/kbd-diy-u-s-minimal-synth-punk-ASPECT-RATIO-listen-/170539539189?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item27b4f2daf5#ht_1800wt_1139

Aspect Ratio- Dimensions Unseen $51.00

All the Madmen- Do You Hear the Sirens Calling $50.00

and there are also plenty of people watching both the current auctions.

Here are the current listings:

http://cgi.ebay.com/kbd-diy-u-s-minimal-synth-punk-ASPECT-RATIO-listen-/170542622690?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item27b521e7e2#ht_1800wt_1139

I know no one sees any value in either Fulcks or Bjakks opinions as is obvious from the number of watchers and bidders on both the past auctions and the current auctions.  These two are basically just haters on a forum with lots of time on their hands.  All I can say is it really pathetic when one tries to devalue anothers creativity because of their own maliciousness, jealousy,  and lack of knowledge.  I will not be reading or responding to either of their posts anymore, and I would suggest others to do the same.

Good luck with your future bids.

There are many more great releases to come!

Interest us! What do you have lined up for next? And more importantly: Will you wait until you’ve sold out your run of ATMM? Ie. in two years?

Oystein,

Coming up is an unknown, another unknown, and another unknown after that.
All U.K. bands.

I’m not waiting at all.

Get Ready.

Agreed. It would be better if the moderator put a lock on this thread.

And to celebrate I offer two things.

Whoever wins the obscure identities releases this week doesn’t pay any shipping.

and 100% of the sale of this weeks All the Madmen LP will go directly to the band.

O.K., bid accordingly.

May I just add a few more things to the debate going around here:

Obscure has created a completely new sales model for his label and there is pretty much nothing we can do about it. He may also be on to something and it is highly probable that it would make itself profitable, but only future will tell. To the side with his highly arrogant attitude which is really inappropriate for a label owner and a person claiming he is in it for the music, that is something I do not want to be dragged into right now.

What I find here most bothersome is the fact that the model have almost nothing to do with the band and their music, just collectors, making the release suitable to meet their demands by giving much attention to the factors that make a release collectible, in this case: minimal synth music from the eighties that has never been released, pressed on a medium suitable for collectors, a lot of effort put into the packaging, very limited pressings and limited opportunities of buying the record when desired, and even the emphasizing on the fact that it was made like it would have been if we were in the eighties, just adds to the value of the release (thus justifying the high price), but not to the value of the music and the band itself.

Leaving the band with the comforting idea that the music they have put themselves into so many years ago is finally released (not to mention on vinyl), can not possibly seem sufficient as a reward for their effort. I don’t want to speak in band’s name, but I myself as a member of my own band would surely not want to have my music presented as obscure for the sake of obscurity to a very limited group of before mentioned collectors. Even if the controversy going around the label helps the band get more publicity, I personally would not find myself pleased to have my music set aside and being in the shadow of label owner’s intention to make a sales model for collectors, putting the music side-by-side with the details that have nothing to do with it. It used to be that the controversy of one band helped sell more records, now it seems that the controversy around the record selling is making the band more popular. That is my impression of the situation.

Not to mention that in the “costs for the record” equation at the first page of this thread, the band’s share of profit was never mentioned…

Hi Mekonin,
I couldn’t resist registering and commenting on what you stated here.
First of all I totally agree with what you say.
I am also a bit disgusted by the way the music and the musicians are handled by this selling model.
However, I find it a little bit arrogant to claim that it is just Obscure doing this doubtful business.
Lets put it this way:
Real music lovers would nowadays benefit the most from cheap and widely available digital downloads.
What we see in this small market is mostly collectable items.
Lets get real: 500 copies worlwide for the most releases in this genre is done to make it more exclusive.
Vinyl is clearly an old fashioned medium which also claims unnessecary resources and energy.
Most musicians I know are also completely uninterested in vinyl and cassettes.
So who’s market is this ?
The musicians or the labels ?
I think Obscure was right when he pointed at ANNA Marc about him also making profit on substantual scale.
You can see how many people in this forum congratulate Marc with the Transparent Illusion release while no one seems to talk about the music or the artist.

Bloggers, label managers, illegal downloaders and distributors:
I’ve heard them all say they work for the benefit of the artists but is this realy the case ?
I personally doubt that.
