Brynger

to my knowledge (and according to discogs) there seems really only these two 7"s. i once had the “Son of a Gun” 7” but sold it years ago as it was an okay-record only, imho. anyway, i have both 7"s saved to CD-R.

Beat Necessity / Veldt - Split 7” is great coldwave, there was a copy on Ebay a week or two ago

VA: The Simple Approach To Newtown Products 7” , has some great gloomy DIY tracks (with some synths) by Beat Necessity, Story So Far and Basic Unit… and a punk track by Crimedesk

The Battery Boys / Noise Annoys - Split 7”, both tracks are great if you like Warsaw period JD

Sorrowvomit - I totally agree with you. I have mp3s of the Simple Approach comp and the Battery Boys/Noise Annoys records. If you like the Battery Boys and Noise Annoys you should check out the ‘Sad Day We Left the Croft’ LP - a bunch of bands from Stornoway on the Western Isles. There’s a documentary about it on youtube in 3 parts (it’s in Gaelic but subtitled)

About Beat Necessity and Veldt - I saw the copy on eBay and was going to bid on it but managed to get a copy direct from the original label Newtown Products. I also picked up Beat Necessity’s own 7” from 1982 as well. Both records were unplayed stock copies at retail price. Worth looking at the website if you need either record.

Anyone remember Syndicate (The Golden Key) or the Passkeepers (Balancing)?

I picked up a 7” by a band called the Studioz called ‘I Saw Her Standing There’

Anyone have any info on this one?

I think the band were from Edinburgh, single was recorded in Maybole (Ayrshire) and released on Warm Records in Portugal only. Very cool synth-y reworking of a Beatles song.

Haven’t been here for awhile. Picked up a Synthetic Dreams 7” (‘Sulphate Suicide’) and really enjoyed it, trying to track down their other single. Also got a single by a band from Aberdeen called Segue called ‘3 on the trot’ - any info on this one? Has anyone uncovered any other dark wave/synth gems from Scotland recently?
