múm_finally we are no one_CD

after i had drowned in Sigur Rós’ deep pool of melancholia it was clear that i also had to explore the wonderful world of múm. múm are more electronic maybe but all in all very similar in mood, atmosphere and musical arrangement with acoustic instrumentation (drums, glockenspiel, violin, etc). i especially love the finally we are no one album which is as sparkling as this very cold and sunny winter day this morning. highly recommended!

PSYCHIC TV - N.Y. Scum
great live LP (New York ‘83) from these legends. I like it much better than most of their studio stuff.

PHONOPHOBIA - 1979/1983
sort of a discography LP of this german cultband. including two songs of their sole 7” release, the other songs were previously unreleased. highly avantgardish experimental/industrial with some minimal electronics (tip: “Irrenhaus”). their music sometimes reminds me a bit of a more electronic P16.D4.

Dare I even say this here?

I’m listening to my new BEATLES IN MONO box set.

I have some of their albums and cd’s, but not all, and some of their first LPs I haven’t played in 20 years plus. It’s been really great listening to the beginning of modern pop music again while pondering the fact that “pop” in itself is now a thing of the past…

Also of course, while listening to the songs, I’m reading “Revolution in the Head”, Ian Macdonald’s excellent run-through of each song the Beatles recorded. Did you know that the LP “Rubber Soul” started out as an LP of comedy songs?

Karel Fialka—“Still Life” LP

Great synthpop album, housed in a very beautifull sleeve.

Earlier:

Godley & Creme—“Snack Attack” LP
