Speaking of Second Layer, since “The Waiting Room” reminds me of something from “The Wall”... for the past week, not much more than Pink Floyd - everything official from “Piper at the Gates of Dawn” through “The Division bell”... plus live albums (Pompeii and even really late stuff), bootlegs like the complete “More” and “Zabriske Point” sessions, rarities, etc.  And the winner?  Even after years of loving “Animals” and “Wish You were Here”... “Meddle.”  “One of these Days” could end up as one of my favorite songs of all time.  Best lyrics ever!?!?

Otherwise, the new Envenomist CD on Killer Pimp, “The Helix.”

Yeah, okay, and the new U2 album, too.  “Unknown Caller” is my favorite new song, these days… but “Magnificent” and “Moment of Surrender” are really nice, too.

And just to annoy Pieter, I’ll say that I listened to the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album three times today.  Seems they really discovered synths/sequencers this time…

Thank you Mark darling…the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are goin on and on about the importance of synths here in BK, shot most of that vid right down the street from my house…and Kanye’s new LP is pure analogue electronics apparently which seems he wants everyone to know, talkin about it on every network TV show there is here…

So whats next, Metallica doing a John Bender or Twilight Ritual cover on their next $10,000,000 LP?  Actually you know that could be pretty interesting…hmmm…maybe the Cleveland genius will reemerge for that occasion???  Sean and I looked for him everywhere when we were there in October but his management company and booker wouldn’t take our calls apparently…

You know come to think of it, maybe Kanye West IS John Bender?  YES it all makes complete sense now…fucking brilliant!  THATS where he went all these years, hes hangin with Obama playin VR minimal synth trax!

YYY Interview last week in Pitchfork:
Pitchfork: Putting two of the dreamiest songs, “Soft Shock” and “Skeletons”, back-to-back near the beginning of the record seems like a ballsy move.

KO: We really love those songs. What was really important in the process of making this record was that we made them in a really conventional, organic way at first. We had no idea that this was going to turn into more of an electronic-sounding record in the beginning. What I like least about electronic music is that there’s often an emotional detachment, so it was really important for me to avoid that.

Pitchfork: So you never bought into the whole Kraftwerk idea of making art out of that electronic detachment?

KO: Not really. That’s always kept me away from electronic music in a way.

You gotta love when little laptop VST bands like YYY wax poetic about the importance of of avoiding “emotional detachment”...priceless…:)
