Looking forward to this movie!

“The devil’s backbone” was excellent as well.
I like Del Toro’s work.

cinico, this topic is from last year!
I can’t remember the movie anymore. wink

Well…lets see. The characters in the movie have a pretty solid foundation.
It’s obvious from the beginning who’s who in this film. But that’s not a flaw.
As the plot thickens the lines get blurred and it’s not so easy to tell what’s really going on. There are some memorable shots in the film because the cinematography is top notch.
I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to ruin it for those who have not seen it but it’s worth it!

  Dates mean something?  LOL

I saw the movie…..this year I think. It’s rapidly fading in memory as books and film plots tend to do for me.  I recall liking some things about it.  The gorier scenes were strikingly shot.  And I just had a small revelation about one reason I didn’t like the little girl.  She reminded me of a child Penelope Cruz, someone I don’t like in films.

Dates mean nothing :D
The girl looks nothing like Penelope Cruz to me!

Another thing I liked was the time period.
He seems (del toro) to like the 40’s alot!
All his movies revolve around that era.

Most of it. Some words here and there I did not grasp.
It’s my improper spanish. This (movie) is real “Castellano”!

Had no problem with the Spanish at all.

They dub all the films here in Germany so very often you have to wait for the DVDs if you want to watch the original versions :x

Although I saw it not too long ago, what really sticks for me are the visuals, especially the fairy creatures, and then that extremely violent and cruel Spanish officer. The rest seems to get blurry rather quickly.

Don’t know where they shot it either, I’m afraid. Comrade Internet might help.

It’s definitely a film worth watching, although the formula didn’t quite work out for me. My favourite Spanish movie is El día de la Bestia. Fuerte!

YES! That film is great.
Very good plot.
That Fat guy was the best. Your typical heavy metal stereotype.

I loved the concept that a priest had to do evil things in order to save the world…especially the idea that he wanted to listen to “evil” music which of course could only be heavy metal.  :D

Not to forget the end where you learn that saving the world is somewhat overrated, unless of course you consider enjoying some fresh air in the park a suitable arrangement when it comes to rewards….

....and where are they sitting? Of course on a bench next to the world’s alledgedly only official monument dedicated to the devil, located in Madrid’s Retiro Park.  :D
