The smoke’s died down, leftover brats consumed, hangovers well shook off and we’re back to work. Means we got another update fer y’alls.
APOP MOVIE NIGHTS IN JULY
Bummer about paraphilia month wrapping up. Seriously some of the more hilarious evenings at the shop hands down (in front)! But we got something all brainfuckeringly good for July, too. After ditching our half-hearted attempt at pulling a drug month out—we just could NOT find a narcocinema piece that was both sub-titled and overblowingly entertaining; sigh, we’re working on it—we figured drugs or no, just let the tripping brain do the talking.
This Thursday we’ll start it off with the classic Altered States at the posh Mini-moolah
Movies are shown every Thursday at 9pm, and are 100% free. Free beer while it lasts, or bring your own refreshments. Keep up to date on movie listings at http://facebook.com/apopmovies
THIS WEEK’S EVENTS:WICCANS , SLEEP IN SUNDAYS and STL RECORD SHOW
July continues to bulldoze with a ton of killer events. Thanks to everyone who has come out and donated to the touring bands; every stinking show so far has been golden! This Saturday heavy hardcore dudes from Texas WICCANS come back to Apop for another round of rowdy in the dungeon. Then Sunday we’ve got a few things on our plate starting with selling at the Saint Louis Record Show at the Czech Center. Always lots of good finds there and we’ll be bringing our most fresh items, some that won’t be made public until our next update. Back at the shop, at 3 PM we’ll be hosting the CD release of SLEEP IN SUNDAYS (Blackburn Recordings). This daytime event will also offer a veggie BBQ and is free. Also, we just confirmed MARK LORD (AKA Chris Forgues, Kites, Daily Life) and ANGELS IN AMERICA for August 2nd!

APOP LABEL RELEASES
So, we got the Egg Chef jammers in. Unfortunately, the 45 hole was the wrong size, so slight delay but replacements should be here soon. In the meantime, check out their BC site: http://eggcheff.bandcamp.com/
Now that the label has come out of it’s sleepiness and starting to relive the momentum of its early years, we’re back to the prelim. stages of planning for Strangulated Beatoffs Genesis LP. Yep, it’s The Beatoffs playing Genesis, nothing but! If you came out to our RSD/Apop Birthday celebration in 2010 then you got a LITTLE TEASER
RECENT ACQUISITIONS
This week boasts of some pretty great used wax. Original SY pressings, several minimally used releases on Table of Elements, classics by Gun Club and more. Also, loads of new Kraut reissues and repros. If you’re missing a Can LP, you’ll probably find it below along with Neu!, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze and Tone Float, too!
On the new release tip, the ever solid Fan Death label stocked us up with new material from Pleasure Leftists and the much anticipated second full length LP from Puerto Rico Flowers. Get funked up with some raunchy rollicking soul with several installments of Buttshakers compilations featuring all kinds of party starters to dance them dames down to their knickers! We’ve got records from recent and upcoming bands playing at Apop: White Suns blew the basement down on Saturday and we snagged some of their latest obliterating release on the inimitable Weasel Walter’s UgExplode. Also, we couldn’t wait to hear Wiccans’ “Skullduggery” so now we got those from the lovely folks at Katorga, and golly gee, it rips!
Can talented pals travel back in time to create the sounds and visions found on Jean Logarin, Temporal Marauder’s “Makes You Feel”? Our lips are sealed but our minds aren’t! Epic electronic journey music from the Mego sub-label Spectrum Spools hanging out all over us right now!
