Hello,

listening to Ivanovitch Dans L’Ombre‘s “Kennedi Kennedo” I wonder, which language this is. I don’t understand anything and it sounds totally strange to me. Partly it sounds french, and partly like the natives of Cologne who cannot speak proper German.

I know they were from Belgium, but what’s their language? Some kind of strange flemish dialect?

Happy painting and God bless,

Ross

Not sure they were really Belgian.  I discussed this with a guy from Brussels and what he told me reminded me of the story of Tuxedomoon : Brussels was only a (small) part of their musical career…

For those who are interested:
Ivanovitch is the keyboardplayer in the live setting of SA 42 (Signal Aout ‘42).
If I don’t forget about it, I’ll ask him when I see them play the first of May smile

It was an invented language (on the vinyl and on the few tapes they released too). It was mostly based on English but mixed with other languages to make it sci-fi sounding. They were cutting and pasting syllables of different languages together.
They were/are from Belgium but pretended that they came from the future from whatever eastern European country, they arrived to Canada through a space-time accident.

I still have many documents (posters, propaganda, drawings, letters) from them collected in the 1980’s/1990’s, I should do something with that one day…

As said, Tcheleskov now plays with SA42 and he also has his own project called Grandchaos (http://www.grandchaos.be/).
Trevosky stopped all music activities a while ago.
