I’ve just got hooked by the Eastern European minimal wave scene and I found out that there are alot more to discover. Does any of you have tips of interesting artists?

I’ve already bought releases from Beograd, Denis & Denis, Kapitain Nemo and a few other. But what have I missed? Any suggestions?

Videosex ‘84 (Yugoslavia) is simply essential eastern european synth pop album

Max & Intro 7” (from Yugoslavia as well)

Forum - Belaya Noch is a real highlight of soviet synth pop/new wave, may sound cheesy at times but very “anna logue"ish overall smile

Center - Odnokomnatnaya Kvartira (1983) recently re-issued on cd, Kernkrach/WSDP stylee minimal synth punk n roll weirdness

...and lots of other stuff actually…

Unfortunately it never made it to vinyl and even a proper tape release, circulated here as self-duplicated tapes..

They are making something right in the eastern parts… I totally agree with the max & intro recommendation aswell, amazing melodies.

By the way, just returning from a visit to Hotel Frey for a taste of Westvleteren 8, nice stuff!

ok band! banket! limit! ocean! rolls!

-even a lot of the most popular artists from Czechoslovakia and Jugoslavia (hey! it’s an 80s thread, yes?) would do a synth LP, sorry I don’t remember any names… Peter Nagy. Someone with Z… Miroslav Zbirka!

...were Sizike mentioned? A mini-LP, some great tracks, produced by DATA (not the Kajanus trio, a czech duo who released an EXCELLENT analogue synth pop single)

Some of my favourite music was made behind the iron curtain in the early to mid- eighties. Way to go East!

Nice thread too grin

Speaking of famous people who did one LP, Izabela Trojanowska (PL) made a hauntingly beautiful synth song, Jesdem Twoim Grechem (spl chk pls). This was once aired on minimal electronic plus too.

if you are into primitive industrial / low fi dilletantism, you’ll find some very interesting ex yugoslav wierdness on this great blog, with great essays about each featured project. no synthpop stuff though:

http://www.ahogonsindustrialguide.blogspot.com/

if you like cheesy polyphonic synth pop like denis denis, maybe you’d also like romantične boje from niš.

the problem with ex yu electronic music is that it always relayed too much on fucking CHORDS, and rarely used monophonic melodies. that’s why ‘beograd’ really stand out in my opinion.

a holy grail of low fi home made minimal would be ‘monotonik’ tape, self-released [and even reviewed in student’s press] in zagreb around 81/82, and ‘crna izdrkotina’ from vojvodina [although i’m not sure about this second name].

2 alone: Thanks for the tips, lost of unknown names, gotta check it out. And yeah, you’re damn right about those chords.

By the way, why didn’t anybody notice the first Borghesia LP ?
