MW Belgium is me. All tracks for “The Lost Tapes” have been carefully selected by Veronica and me.

And well done both of you! At least, judging by the names I know, I haven’t heard everything on this LP - yet!

In my (french) side, I was curious about how you managed to create a record label : how to find legal rights to release song ? Is it expensive ? how to get in touch with teh original composers ?

It takes a lot of work, and yes it is expensive (mostly the production part). Legal rights = a simple contract in which the artist agrees to license the tracks (non-exclusive or exclusive) for a specific time or # of copies of the release. As far as finding the original composers, it simply takes research. I think its possible to find anyone in the world, if you are really determined.

There were a few people I had been trying to track down for years.  Once the internet came I was able to find 2 of the people in the same day.

1 was Chel White from the Minneapolis band Process Blue.  I found him living in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, and I was able to get him to dig up the original 1/4” tape of Process Blue’s only release, dump it to a DAT for me so I could burn a disc of it.

I was surprised at how willing some of these people are to go out of their way to provide the die-hard fans with music.  Chel went so far as to take his reel-to-reel tape deck into the shop to get it fixed and tuned up before he made me the DAT.  You never know unless you ask.

It will be a Belgian / NY split lp, by two legends of the genre who exchanged tapes by mail back in the day.

In France it’s even more complicate, don’t forget about “our” socialist ID destroying any cultural forms they are…
