Whaddya think of it’s musical potential?
I used to lick my guitar cable connected to the processor with some weird alien sound set on it. If only i could do what these nerds can do. Only with some more musical approach.
And offcourse I’d throw in some vitage effects on the output and create another truly NEW wave of minimal-wave music 8)

Not my cup of tea, but who knows, 30 years ago synthesizers were considered a fad and look what’s happened since.

a lot of the circuit bending scene is instant gratification of making a toy into a noise maker.  There are some folks who are taking steps to create art with their constructions not just do product demonstrations.

some people like death by audio and Devi Ever have made really interesting and useful pedals from their bent circuits.

I would say circuit bending is at least more creative then just buying old stuff, get it connected and think you produce oldskool music. That’s pathetic.
Experimenting is the way to go.
In my opinion circuit bending doesn’t even go far enough though.
The fact that there’s even a name for it makes it suspicious to be fashionable, a movement, a group, etc. etc.

bent instruments/toys can be used quite musically, it really depends on what people do with their machines. there are several people selling bent instruments, but you don’t have to be an expert to do it on you own. everyone who takes the time to learn how to solder a wire to a contact can do it. it’s actually much fun to fumble around on the circuit boards (well one useful tip - avoid the section around the power supply…. this could harm you or the machine) of cheap toy keyboards from the flea market, to find interesting bending points and then to learn how to use those modifications.

songs like “your eyes” and “wanna buy” might appeal to minimal wave lovers.
