I recently purchased a copy of the Vancouver Independence compilation which mainly contains music which is not exactly in the centre of my focus.

However, two tracks do not quite fit the bill on there however fitting my bill to the extreme. The artist is called Si Monkey and it hardly gets any more old school minimal synth than that.

Now the only other release of Si Monkey I could spot on Discogs is a compilation called Nowhere to Play offering two more tracks and a somewhat nasty price tag.  8)

Anyone got info on this band? Any tapes released? Maybe even a 7”?

I only know the Vancouver Independence compilation as well, did you hear the tracks from Nowhere to Play?

No, unfortunately not, and it’s not exactly an impulse buy item, is it?

not really tempting, and two copies make it much less appealing. Bad luck.

I received information on this from a trustworthy source in the meantime.

Passing this on “as is”, the band also features on two Canadian tape compilations and released a private tape called “Greytest Hats” in 1982.

Now all I have to do is walk down the road to the supermarket and get one….. 8)

If they still have a copy of that tape down at the supermarket, yes.

But seriously, I only received info on the nature of the material + the info that the Nowhere to Play tracks are more experimental. Again, I’m passing this on “as is”.

Not quite so, but this doesn’t mean I have something I can listen to.  8)
