The keys are little bit hard, so it’s not easy to play fast fast lines.
With some reverb on the high frequencies (8” & 4”) it also works as a lead solo stuff.  :wink:

yes, it’s a sweet little synth.  I think it’s all discrete components which makes it sound kind of “alive.”  I like it for bubbly arpeggios too.  And you can get a pretty funny electric piano sound in the upper register with the square wave + noise and a quick decay.  The envelope follower is cool too, and I’ve been meaning to order the ‘modular’ kit from Analog Solutions for ages:

gives you VCF, PWM, SH clock, SH signal CV ins. LFOx3, EG, EG-ve, SH CV outs. VCA audio in. VCF audio out on 1/8” jacks, perfect for the rest of my patchable stuff.

Do you know if there’s a real difference between the SH09 & the KORG MS20/10 sound ???  :oops:

If you did a simple single osc sound on an MS that didn’t use any features the sh-09 doesn’t have, they’d sound close but not the same.  But the MS-20 especially has a lot of extra possibilities.

my favorite MS-20 trick, BTW, headphone out into ‘total mod’ input, crank up resonance and modulation on both filters: hello merzbow!

First synth I ever bought.  Paid $50 for it in about 1989 from a pawn shop.  Sold it a year later (along with an SH101, MC202, and a midi sync box, all for drastically less than what they were worth).  Now I really want another but don’t have the $400-$600 to get one.

i like the sh09 better than the sh101 - for sound character, but then you cant beat the sh02 for basslines.  its all a matter of personal taste, but i think moog bass is too syrupy, the sh02 bounces and thumps better than anything ive ever heard through a real PA (except for a Jen sx2000, but those are hard to find in america)

a modular expanded sh09/sh02 would be pretty much better than system 100m stuff, i think!  awesome!

Hey, I hold a SX2000 but I find it too limited and not appropriate for bass… maybe mine is broken…  :cry:  :cry:  :cry:

The SH-09 does to bass pretty well it has to be said. I find it works best as a fairly dry sounding machine. It’s not a pretty pretty machine and doesn’t really do intricate stuff but if you need something a bit dry and bassy it’s great.

I dont like at all the Jen sx 2000 and in fact i dont think is usefull for Basses,  is a kind of home organ with presets to modulate.

In fact, i prefer and i own a Jen sx 1000. I will modify it MIDI when ill have the money to do it. It’s simply great, also if there isnt a sequencer or arpeggiator.

The Sh 09 is not the state of the art - my advice is simply to save money and try to buy a Sh 02.

About the Sh 101 the problem is that now is a ‘fashion’ synth and is going more expensive (the price growed up at least of 150€ in 2 years), but is always a great machine
