Tuned-In….!
[quote author=“reactorlgtn”]I got my copy today, after paying through the nose for it on the internet after it sold out (to get the single of course - if I buy a record, I want it complete)...
But what’s this I hear?
There’s a SKIP in one song - If you listen to the track “New Project”, towards the end, after the “when times look hard” lyric - it can’t be just my copy, surely?
I checked the vinyl, there’s no marks or anything. Maybe it was mastered from an original vinyl that skipped?
Did anyone else notice? If it skips only on my copy (no 45/600) it’s at least better than if every copy has this flaw.
Still, it didn’t manage to put me off “the Addict”... what a smasher.

Who could ask for a better group of listeners…? My fav. people…!
Nothing gets past your well tuned, insightful ears… does it…?
It’s not a skip in the vinyl…
The VOD masters were sampled from the original 1982 1/4” mater tapes…
These PROTOTYPE master tapes had been knocking around with me
for the past 26 years…
The tape acquired a 1/2 measure flaw on New Project…
Thankfully it draws no attention, except to the most perceptive… ~
The VOD reissue and the original do have their own unique sound…
I believe the original master plates were manipulated a bit ( EQ…? comp/limit…? etc ) by the engineer when plates were cut in 1982… It’s sound is very subtle…
But talk about disappointing vinyl… 300 low level, noisy pressings…
The VOD pressing is a much “hotter” version… No doubt…
But I believe it’s a truer version of the master tapes… More detail is revealed… ie. Reverb of vocals and instruments… etc
The bass synths have more growl… And the vinyl is top shelf…
The PROTOTYPE - GARAGE TRACKS VOD release fulfilled my visions nicely…
The tuned-in listener was always the target…
