It’s not playing for me for some reason. It’s a cover or a rip off? wink

yes, I heard this one too.

It just doesn’t do justice to the original song. Unfortunately!

Where did you sleep last night?

Hi there, this song has been covered by NIRVANA,
but it´s an 1983 original by Michael A Lukas Band
called MAL. Seems that almost nobody knows the original…

Where Did You Sleep Last Night?(In The Pines) was also covered by The Triffids in 1984 and was recorded by Leadbelly in the 40’s (don’t know if it was an original or if he wrote it himself)

Also for those who want the original 7”, it’s still available on his website (60Eur) :

It’s not a cover, but merely a case of plagiarism in my humble opinion.  :x
Anyway what I wanted to ask is this:

Is anybody familiar with IAV (In Aeternum Vale) and Air. Both are from France. I bought this best of compilation of IAV ( Invasion Planete) and when I got to the track I.A.W ( And I Will) I had the impression that I was listening to Air’s “Kelly Watch The Stars”. The only thing is that IAV is the older band and when you listen to both you will notice that, apart from the different lyrics, the music and the way it is sung from the very first note are exactly the same.
Anybody on this forum who can confirm this? Besides the fact that they secretely do listen to Air?

@ACB apart from the slightly similar bassline sound I can really hear no resemblance. I do hear two very different arrangements!

Maybe I should have phrased my question differently, but there are some very obvious similarities between the tracks even though the melodies are not quite the same. One can only jump to the conclusion that Air must at one point during the 80’s have heard AIV.
