Hi,

I’ve just re-discovered their fantastic Mini-LP “Greatest Hits Volume Two” ...

Did they release any more tracks than those five on the MLP?
Not sure about it, but I think i’ve read about another 7” (somewhere in the WWW ... some years ago).

Thank you,
TeaBeee

Funny you should ask just now,

as only yesterday an item was listed in Ebay as “Cardboards LP”, priced at a fetching 180 euros and this rather nice write-up:

“US minimal electronics with even a touch of synth punk at times. One of the best US records, and very rare. This record is in fantastic condition! SYNTH SYNTH SYNTH! Ah, I love it! This sure is amazing stuff for any electronic-minded heart!”

There’s a link to click too, for a short mp3 sample. Perhaps you could inform me whether this clip matches your MLP? Item number: 290187230659.

Oh, PS! Nils, if you’re still lurking about this forum, maybe you want to shed some light on this release? No?

The MP3 Sample is the start of the 3rd best track on the MLP (“Gravity’s still working”) ... don’t know why Nils didn’t record “Electrical Generator” (which is a “minimal synth” Masterpiece!)

Nevertheless (and off-topic) my bleeding heart forces me to pass on a comment on Nils’ “Christmas Auctions”: it’s simply unreal what he offers on EBay! What a bunch of “buried” treasures! Unfortunately the prices are astonishing too ... but some of those Multi-Millionaired-Minimal-“Freaks” will pay these prices for sure.

“This insane creature really went berzerk with his analog synthesizers on this aural explosion of synth mania!”  LOL

“Lots of synthesizers, computer programming and word processing, give this album a disctinct electronic flair.”  raspberry

The third number

Not really the lurking type, but those who are tend to inform me when names are being named. Do I know TeaBeee, by the way?

Cardboards is an excellent vinyl entity, and, to my knowledge, this LP is the only existing proof of their musicianship. If there is a 7”, it is surely crap even if the word “synthesizer” is mentioned all over it. So, if you see one, simply send it to me, and I will make sure it is properly discarded of.

By the way, there is no coincidence that the third best track was chosen as an appetizer. I have done that with all the items which have soundclips included (apart from the 7"s, where I usually picked the second best track). You should just imagine how cool the other tracks sound!

And, sure, I got so inspired by the current plethora of bootleggers, that I actually thought somebody would pay a dime or two for original stuff as well. Who am I kidding?! You all want the bootlegs instead, dontcha?!

I am actually considering to donate any income made by these auctions to a World Bootleggers Association (in short, WBA, which hopefully will not too often be confused with West Bromwich Albion), which would help finance any further <100 % official releases, and of course offer legal guidance to any participating member. There might even be enough left to offer professional therapy to those who are harassed and victimized by ignorant critics of this fine addition to our collector enviroment.

Sorry, I didn’t want to bother you ...
... and unfortunately you will not know me as well (I bought some great items you offered in the last years ... that’s why I “know” you ... )

Let’s not discuss about the quality of the Cardboards MLP, we both know that it is a masterpiece, do we? To my opinion at least every track could have been an appetizer…

Best Wishes,
Teabeee
