You just violated somebody’s copyright and you know exactly what I’m talking about :D

And be nicer to the lady next time round, your conduct is just disgraceful…

The greatest artists are also the ones who are sampled the most…  8)

I was SO close to putting a “(sorry O)” after that line! You have to admit it’s better without it though.

Hi reactorlgtn! (sorry, I don’t know your real name..) I would never DREAM of discussing such “off-topic” things as “deathrock” here, but since you asked…  “Deathrock” originated in the early 80’s in Southern California, and was an answer to the late 70’s/early 80’s UK “gothic rock” scene - i.e. bands such as Joy Division (and I fully realize I might be opening up a can of worms just by mentioning Joy Division, so I might as well point out that they were not “goth”, but certainly helped inspire the “gothic rock” scene - o.k., I hope I “covered” myself there) Bauhaus, UK Decay, Sex Gang Children, The Danse Society, etc.  The first deathrock bands had (of course) a “dark” sound, sometimes walking a fine line between punk and post-punk, using guitars, often adding synthesizers and “effects” and had lyrics centered around “horror” “sacrelige”, or “darkly romantic” themes.  Perfect examples of “deathrock” would be anything from the early (early ‘80s) days of Rozz William’s Christian Death, Screams For Tina, 45 Grave, and TSOL.

I personally love EARLY to MID 80’s minimal synth, French Coldwave, Neue Deutsche Welle, darkwave, new wave, gothic rock, industrial - not to mention all the great Italian bands, etc. etc.  And I also don’t see anything wrong with liking Depeche Mode (regardless of whether you do or don’t) they released some great music.  I don’t know what to make of this discussion; all I wanted to do was give people a “heads up” on some records they might be interested in.  I know I would love to hear of anyone selling Kirlian Camera’s “It Doesn’t Matter, Now” LP, but if someone had posted a message stating that they were selling John Denver’s or Edith Piaf’s greatest hits LP’s, I’d have passed it off and wouldn’t even have taken any more of my time to complain about the whole fifteen seconds it took me to read the post.  *shrug*

Hi Angel,

It’s very simple: we’re all stark raving mad talking at cross-purposes all the time and you entered the day of our annual conference. LOL

Welcome to Minimal Wave!

[quote author=“reactorlgtn”]Yes, I do like Depeche Mode, you got me there.

Jeepers…

You know, I’m sorry I brought up your forum. I should have known you’d have issues with that.

It won’t happen again…

all is said !!  ^^ now sing with your lovely musical voice ( you , the artist ) and with me my friend , I have a Coldwave Intellectual Pillow to reasure you and what you are , while your forthcoming Hard Coldwave Winter Nights will come :

“I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone wholl stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
Shell get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
Shell hear me out
And wont easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact shell often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
Aaaahhhhh…. ” It seems to be autobiographic , can’t have written better lyrics for an artist like you lol LOL

Hello falck!  Danke for the welcome, and the explanation!  I’m guessing you live in Deutschland (land of the Happy Krauts, eh?)?  You’ve got some terrific e-cards listed on your website; especially Vicious Pink Phenomena, and Clan of Xymox.  I envy you: you live in a place populated with many amazing artistic visionaries!  Besides my never-ending admiration for X-Mal Deutschland, I’ve actually been listening alot to Propaganda’s “A Secret Wish” lately - a masterpiece!  There have also been some incredible German films - besides Fritz Lang’s films (although he was really Austrian), The Princess and the Warrior was also great, not to mention What to Do in Case of a Fire?  (LET IT BURN!!!)

I hope to visit Germany at some point.  (I would love to check out Pagan Love Songs in Bochum!)  Consider yourself lucky you live in a country so rich in culture and the arts!

Angel:

Well, well, this is a statement you don’t get to hear every day.  8O

Now watch out for those Dutch people on the forum, they might take offense at this :D How about some nice comments about Dutch cheese and windmills and those great Dutch painters for Spartak, watcha think?

But seriously, you know, I grew up in a general attitude that our country is really the pits and that cultural poverty is stalking the land. It’s a recent thing that Germans have become less paranoid about their nationality and that they can wave the occasional national flag without being stoned to death on the spot for being nazi offspring.

Now if you plan on visiting the fatherland, first place to go for subculture in general is Berlin and no doubt about it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they have got the best gothic parties on there…

Not sure when you were in the Netherlands, but the last ten years public opinion has become quite positive towards the Germans. The same can’t be said for the French, unfortunately. Then again, when I read some of the comments around here, it isnt all that surprising.

Anyways, to get back on topic, I must say I don’t really fancy Dutch painters all that much. I’d trade an Edvard Munch for a painting by my dad without the slightest shadow of doubt.
Dutch cheeses however, especially those between the toes, cannot meet enough acclaim IMHO.

Well thanks, I’m sure, but I’d have to see your dad’s work first - could you send a scan? wink

Well it’s been a while indeed, left in January 1999, only have been there on a few occasions since. BTW, I hear a Dutchman shouting in the streets as I write, Alkmaar played (or tried to smile ) here in the football UEFA cup tonight.

Now surprising as it might sound in this context, I’m actually quite fond of the French, the minor detail being that it kinda helps if you speak their language to get a bit of affection in return.  smile

When it comes to paintings, I’m also more into them impressionists and expressionists. Goya’s black period is also pretty cool, but wait, isn’t there another forum for these things?
