Weird Science vs. A Sky Full Of Stitches
Minimal * Synthwave * UndergrouNDW * Angstpop * New Wave * Electroclash

Saturday, April 21st 2007
Jena - Cafe Wagner

Live on Stage :

SISTA MANNEN PA JORDEN   (Sweden)
German Debut of the swedish Synthwaveband around Eddie Bengtsson (Eddie B. Kirk, former songwriter of S.p.o.c.k. and member of Page). Right in time for the first trip to germany the new album will be released in april.
In Jena Eddie will be supported by Plasteroid, another former member of S.p.o.c.k. - maybe there will be one or another surprise…

A.w.o.l.   (Germany)
First time live, yet “Absent without leave” already got a name in the german minimal-wave scene due to several dancefloor-killers like “Robotic’s Return” or “Elusive”

Solitude FX   (Germany)
Supported by singer Annett (Starry-eyed Girl) the band will play a mix of their meanwhile very well known hits and intersting covers. “Zeitgeist Overkill” or “Liebe Im Original” won’t be missing, as well as their cover of DeMo’s “Photographic”.

After the concert there is an aftershow with the DJs Jana  (Jena) and Mike  (Weird Science Host).
Pure minimal, from old to new and from famous to unheard there should be something nice for every (minimal) fan.
*** Attention : NO punk, deathrock or batcave ! ***

Gates open :  8pm
Cover :  10 Euros

Driving directions are on the homepage of Cafe Wagner , questions and requests can be posted here or as mail to the djs : weirdscience - at - modern-angels.de
Maybe wink there will also be the own, minimalistic Weird Science-homepage soon, at present here is just the usual flyer.
We are supported by Hörsturz Mailorder , who will also be there with his huge stock of great records.
Also available are the latest Annalogue-releases, more to come.

Would be nice to meet some of the minimal- or swedishpop-freaks from here.

cu soon
Jana and Mike

P.S. for last-minute-people I will do a special about the concert on monday, april 16th from 10 pm to 11.30pm german time in my weekly radio show (Weird Science) at Feindsender .

What?

*** Attention : NO punk, deathrock or batcave ! ***

is there a logical reason for this?
Some underground rivalry going on? the goths and punks don’t like the minimal people? or is this a guitars vs synths thing LOL  LOL
I much rather hear that than “electroclash”  rolleyes

It sounds like a great party but I’m confused…..

well, it is a MINIMALparty, not the usual batcave event.

Electroclash…
hmm…
some is nice, but we won’t go so deep, let’s see this as the “main drawer” for modern minimal wink

for “Batcave” there are enough parties, usually the ever same sets, never any surprises, usually 3-4 minimal songs in these nights (and of course the always same songs everywhere…)

We want something simply minimal and make clear that we play what is marked on the flyer and people should learn to read wink

People will be people no matter what part of the world you’re in.
This is just a general comment and an observation only.

Sure

the main point why I do parties is to show that there is FAR more than classics and give people a chance to discover music.

And I remember well the first Weird Science with Echo Frau…

The request list was full with “batcave”, and there only the absolutely 100% usual songs…

I prefer to directly mark what we do and what we don’t, so nobody will be decepted. To me this is more honest and better than doing “music for the masses” and try to catch every paying guest at every price.

It’s not business but passion

I think a good mix is better then the whole night just minimal (or one specific other style)... look at we do at our Hex parties… lots of minimal but also some post-punk, some batcave… sometimes classics but also not well known songs and bands… and we also play other stuff if we feel like it… like a bit of neo-folk, a bit of industrial… I do not like nights with just the same thing the whole night… I get bored…

BUT… have fun and I try my best to have the Solitairen Effekten record ready by then so Marc can sell them there after his concert…

Yeah can’t make it too, i am far unhappy :(
I would love to see all of you getting a great veggie brunch before and after the party!  LOL

But i agress with M, a good party can be mixed depending how it is done, i like the concept of mixing neofolk/industrial with other styles but this would definitly not works in germany….

it did !
remember Aurea Mediocritas…

there will also be more mixed parties again, but the concept of Weird Science is simply ELECTRONIC and will stay like this forever !

would be nice to have both of you there, but maybe next time (may 19th in Wiesloch again)

Please shout if you see me, as I don’t know most of you personally grin

If you come feel free to drop any requests, but it is useful to take them to us, as we bring a lot of synth tunes, but we can’t have everything.

it works well, I visited a lot of the KRANKPOP parties where they played a lot of NeoFolk & Industrial - it was simply the concept of the party…

The main-organisator, has problems with his employer because he did Derniere Volonté on easter sunday this year. He lost his job because of this !!!!!!!!

Please stand together and leave him a message on the KRANKPOP MySpace account!!!

KRANKPOP at MySpace

sorry for beeing OT but the guy is really kind and has not deserved this SHIT !!!
