I just bought a nice Roland Juno 106 today.  I played around with it for an hour or so after I got it home.  I like it alot.  Anyone know any secrets or tricks I should know about?

IIRC you can send patch changes to influence the sound of sounding notes… so if you have a long decay you can send change periodicly between a patch with and without heavy pitch modulation and get some more interesting sounds than the simple voice architecture allows.

Also, apply just a little key tracking and no envelop to the self oscillating filter.  Use slow amp envelopes and yo can get some subtle ‘additive’ ambiences using clusters of keys.

Sysex is supposed to work too, but back when I had one (yikes, early ‘90s, I remember packing it up and shipping it to Rogue in NYC when I got my hands on some more versatile synths) it didn’t seem to work very well with cubase mixer maps.

Glad to be in the world of voltage control now!
