Steve, is there a chance of making that remaining material available to everyone, another (re-)release planned ?

ya, i think so, too. here’s my little review in case you didn’t see it yet.

IRON CURTAIN was mainly Steven Fields from Santa Barbara, USA, with some support from Doug Norton, Bruce Cooper and a few other guests. For Anna simply one the best acts ever coming from the States with some four vinyls output in between 1983 to 1988. The mood IRON CURTAIN did create is just enthralling, the unique monotony of drums and bass lines are like a “trademark” and are simply never boring. There is a darkness and a melancholy in those songs in which Anna can completely drown and find comfort. On “Artifact” early previously unreleased demos and live tracks are compiled, and there is just not a single drop out. While the songs are mostly electronic they do remind more of Joy Division or early Fra Lippo Lippi maybe. Oh Anna just loves this record or do you think you can elude tracks like “Acting out” ? Also there’s early versions of “First Punk Wars” and their probably most well-known track “Condos”. Strong advice: get it while you can! 350 copies are quite few for this release.

I love this tread.
It clearly shows the arrogance of the 80’s idol versus the sheeplike behaviour of the new fans.
Sorry for you all but Steve is only interested in the money, not in the art.
And I might agree with him, who knows. It’s only a cassette tape.

Yeah, Ton,

either he shows the arrogance of the 80s idol, or, well, y’know - maybe he’s just been offline for a while!

but sure, why give anyone the benefit of the doubt. After all, a cassette demo Steve put together in the early eighties should be the most important thing in his life in 2009.  rolleyes

from steve

i don’t understand some of these posts…
the only reason i sold the cassette was to get some ca$h to put out my new cd.
i am not a star and i am not greedy, just a low-income DIY artist trying to share my new music with some people. i made no $ from my music in the 80’s and i make no $ now. ok, now here’s the shameless self-promotion: the new cosmic love child cd comes out on 10/15/09 thanks to the sale of that cassette!! i consider this music to be the current evolution of the iron curtain sound. will it take another 20 years for people to appreciate this new stuff like it took for iron curtain?
so thanks for the few of you who aren’t judgemental bitches.

i don’t understand some of these posts…

erh, which ones ? i think at least my question was clear and precise (but the answer is still due).

i consider this music to be the current evolution of the iron curtain sound. will it take another 20 years for people to appreciate this new stuff like it took for iron curtain?

i think its broadly understood and appreciated that artists are not repeating themselves for ages, but do progress. but it should be also understood that this site and forum is simply dealing with 80’s electronics and dark wave music. you cannot blame someone for maybe not liking the music you make today, and by the way, i think no-one said that (here).

It clearly shows the arrogance of the 80’s idol versus the sheeplike behaviour of the new fans.

hmm, i do not see any of this here. neither do we have arrogant idols, nor sheeplike fans. i only expressed that i like that sort of music and that i would like to hear that other material, no more and no less. but maybe i am too blind and dumb to see the truth ? or maybe you meant someone, what do i know ?

but let me check again:

Steve, is there a chance of making that remaining material available to everyone, another (re-)release planned ?

uff, i do not see something wrong in here - i haven’t even been a kind of greedy ass to send Steve a private message asking for that ultra-super-duper tape that and if i had gotten it, that i would close myself away with it in that so-that-nobody-else-can-hear-it manner shit…. i actually think that my question was a polite one with a public relevance (at least in this forum)

i really do not understand what’s wrong here, but now to more important matters….....

for marc

i sent you a personal email that said i’d be open to releasing it but never heard back from you. it’s true that the buyer didn’t want it to come out because that would decrease the value of this sacred minimal relic. but i made a digital copy of it so it may still be released in the future. however it’s unlikely that anyone would care enough to do that. even though my records are considered collectable by a very few, no one is making any real $ on these products… especially me. my new work is minimal in structure but contains more layers of sound. the actual recording of those old iron curtain releases took less than a week. the actual recording time of my new album took 150 days. so i took a lot of care with this new recording and i’m happy with the product. in the future i think i’ll probably go more toward a purely techno sound.

hello,

this is better my last post in this thread, but i cannot of course leave this un-commented:

i sent you a personal email that said i’d be open to releasing it but never heard back from you.

as this might leave some question mark on the public mind, i want to point out that i did not receive this email, or at least i do not recall ever having received it. i am sure i would have been over the moon if i had received it, so i would remember it and i would have replied, that is for sure! actually i think we have never exchanged any email. anyway, i say this here and now, i am interested in your old tape material for a possible release on Anna Logue Records. i guess Peter/Pylon is, too, or MW, or others. If you feel like developing a passion for such a project, please get in touch with me via email or private message here and we start from there.

it’s true that the buyer didn’t want it to come out because that would decrease the value of this sacred minimal relic.

this is definitely the most ugly saying that i have read in this forum ever. i simply do not understand these people. is there no other success in their lives than spending a lot of money on something that is not broadly available and then keeping it for yourself ? what’s the use of it ? to put it to an extreme, this is censorship! one or a few decide what others can get, oh that’s nice times we are living in then…. if someone would be in the position to do this, then the artist, please, but not some dollar-waving dude .. to be frank, i am missing the words for this ... or more cynical, maybe i should run Anna Logue Records that way - produce a thousand records of previously unavailable music, store them in the cellar and ejaculate on them because i am such a fucking freaking great dude ... oh how lame is all of this ? it’s obviously a ... mad world,  ... a sad world then.

but ok, it is not me to decide. to be honest, i will survive superbly without ever hearing these tracks, but you, Steve, will have to decide whether our dear thousand-dollar-baby should be the “guard” of your recordings.

thinking further about it, maybe one could regard this as a unique piece of art, like an original painting, but then, i am also happy to buy a lower cost print…

it’s not wisdom that’s speaks through me, but honesty and kindness., but some will never see. enough of that.

Hmm..

thank you for the interesting discussion. the music itself and our feelings surrounding it are the most important things (not who owns what disc/tape).
