Great! best of luck Justin!, glad the noise capital of the world is finally getting the cold minimal waves at long last - I’ll repost this on the noise forum and see if I can get the Wolves, Demons, and Hive Minded ones outa the woodwork in Ann Arbor, Ypsi, and Kalamazoo

Thanks Pieter. I’ve been trying to set up a coldwave night for a few years, but never found a venue with a welcoming aestetic. I didn’t want to end up in a dive bar, so its in a nice European cafe (with a liquor license!) with a proper atmosphere. I really appreciate the support and word being spread. The Rustbelt finally has a home for chilly-wave!
Yeah the frozen cold is seeping into the bowels of the heartland finally thanks to Justin and Co…and Oh yeah Kris BTW ‘pole-dancing’ is just a gay metaphor in the Motor City so beware, you think people in New York Party man ugh intense watch yr back, literally!
“POLE” dancing. Of course. Never thought of that! Even after you pointed out the double-entendre, I still thought it might have been to do with the huge Polish coldwave community in Detroit… or something. Guess I’ve lived a sheltered life!
Anyway, best of luck Justin! Sounds like a pleasant place for your club night.

Trine got you wrapped like a taco doesnt she?
*smiles and waves friendly to the lady of the house*
Haha, 18+ is held to a grain of salt here in Detroit. Very few venues are actually 18+, I only due that because of city curfew, I don’t want any young ones in trouble with the law at 4 in the morning. Not that we’re policed that heavily! However, some good ol’ fashion NYC pole dancing would be gladly accepted as means of gratitude. Jussss sayin.
Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. This should be an excellent night. Everything from Chromatics to ADN’ Ckrystall, to Wierd to Factory! The Motorcity is now the frostbite city.

The funny thing is Hamtramck is Detroit’s POLISH neighborhood!
Hmm, so how to get that Polefest of yours started? What good music came from Poland? Hmm. Iza Trojanowska has at least one great song although it’s hardly booty-shaking material, and I have a comp from Poland with mannequins on the front, that I don’t remember the name of. Oh, and Kapitan Nemo is from Poland! We’re saved!
Spartaccus: More like a burrito, I suppose? They’re… well, snugger
Oh man, drink specials in Michigan or not, Polish Wave VRappreciation really should be an entire thread of its own…so many incredible bands, I seem to remember we actually did an entire homage night back a few years ago: http://www.wierdrecords.com/wierd/wierd_invites/2006_7_18.htm
And yeah Oyst thats the legendary first Tonpress label Compilation ‘Jeszcze Młodsza Generacja’ you mention, played it so many damn times actually had to rebuy it 2 yrs ago, best label ever from Warsaw - and one of the only wave labels/licensing co. ever as far as I know that was actually run by the national government…shit can you imagine that here? it’d be like if Obama started puttin out John Bender or Craig Sibley records…then again, he’s a pretty cool dude never say never.
Sure you all know this one of the absolute Solidarność-Wave classix, why can’t you kids make vids as intense as this now adays…alas, genius : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XagVXbaUb8
The premier of Something Cold was an absolute blast! Thanks to everyone who showed up and showed your support for this marvelous night for all sorts of cold, punk and wave music. I’m glad a very good amount of friends, friends of friends, and new faces turned up. Caught a lot of new interest from folks. We’re proud to be Detroit’s first and perhaps the Midwests first minimal-wave and coldwave night. We’ll continue to keep it “Very Rare”, and as always, pretension is a dish best served cold. Har har.
