It is small, it is lovely, it is cute, it is cheap and it makes some amazing sounds.

I bought one about a month ago.  Impossible to play in a reasonable way, but great for making noises and to use as an extra filter for other instruments.

Hello,
I am proper monotron synthesizer. I was born in 70’ in Italy.
Please notice i have normal, full sized keyboard and, besides monotron synth with portamento, i provide useful functions as polytron and instastrings.
Do not be mistaken with “digital” in my name!

Korg recently released the schematics for it on their .jp site - a friend and are going to try to hack together 3 of them for a polyphonic semi-modular.

plenty of monotron videos exist on youtube, including modified / tweaked versions and other interesting ones.

there’s even a comparison video of the sounds of a monotron versus an ms-20 grin
